Dispatcher

The Dispatcher is responsible for providing excellent customer service to our clients, overseeing the timely scheduling of deliveries from our client’s facilities, and ensuring that the scheduling is completed in a cost-effective manner by proper routing and fleet utilization. The Dispatcher also participates in strategic initiatives within the transportation department, including coordinating truck maintenance and repairs, evaluating equipment needs, and seeking out new customer opportunities.

Dispatching & Customer Service:

  • Schedule and dispatch all customer loads in an efficient manner
  • Communicate with drivers regarding delivery schedule, truck maintenance, delivery instructions, and safety and operational protocols, among other driver responsibilities
  • Maintain daily communication with clients regarding current and upcoming loads, and provide exceptional customer service
  • Manage same-day additions and other schedule changes provided by the customer
  • Collect and sort driver mail (driver logs, receipts, inspection reports, etc.) and calculate mileage for billing purposes
  • Coordinate with Service Manager to ensure the timely servicing of fleet vehicles. Coordinate with Service Manager or third-party service providers for needed on-the-road maintenance and equipment issues
  • Troubleshoot on-the-road and mill/delivery issues that arise with drivers, and resolve as appropriate
  • Assist other dispatchers as needed

Supervision & Leadership:

  • Directly supervise and evaluate drivers, including overseeing their day-to-day responsibilities, and managing their performance and reviews
  • Assist with the hiring and training of drivers, and maintain driver schedules
  • Assist with driver safety initiatives, and review farm procedures and safety measures, along with the Transportation Manager

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Occasional operation of CMV
  • Research backhaul opportunities to maximize fleet utilization
  • Build relationships with current customers and seek out new opportunities and relationships to expand business
  • Ensure fleet and driver compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Opportunity to assist with strategic decisions, including evaluating equipment needs, customer rates, driver training, etc.

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working within the transportation industry, preferably in dispatching, logistics coordination, or operations
  • CDL A
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA)
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills, and a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with others
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to positively interact with individuals across the business (drivers, customers, colleagues, etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience dispatching within the transportation industry
  • Previous experience working within or alongside agriculture industry

 

 

Compensation: $55,000-$65,000 base salary (pay commensurate with experience), plus bonus structure
