Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager provides financial leadership to the organization and supervisors the accounting functions. This position is functionally responsible for the day-to-day operations of all areas of accounting and finance, oversees all financial planning and reporting functions, cash management, and payroll, and is responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company. The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the Service Department and managing both the company fleet and external customer needs.
Accounting & Finance Operations:
- Manage and perform all day-to-day accounting activities on a timely and accurate basis
- Prepare annual budget and oversee preparation of business activity reports and financial forecasts
- Direct and prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and ensure that adequate controls and procedures are in place to ensure the integrity of all accounting activities
- Ensure that all required federal, state, and local tax filings are prepared, filed, and paid accurately and on a timely basis. Maintain and file bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly payroll tax reports
- Complete daily reconciliation of company bank accounts
- Manage day-to-day banking relationships and ensure compliance with all covenants and conditions relating to bank lines of credit and bonding arrangements
- Complete cost-analysis of all business units on regular basis and report trends and findings to appropriate stakeholders.
- Develop, administer, and evaluate bonus programs and compensation plans
Strategic Management:
- Serve as a business partner to each Operating Manager and provide recommendations on short-term and long-term financial objectives
- Assess strategic business decisions by providing pro-forma forecasts, financial modeling, financing requirements, and other analyses
- Ensures that company maintains adequate financing to support working capital and long-term capital requirements
- Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Supervision:
- Provide direct supervision of all departmental staff (Office Manager, Billing Specialist) and maintain employee accountability for work completed
- Conduct ongoing and annual reviews for all department staff
- Serve as back-up support for all billing, payables, and payroll functions
Additional Responsibilities:
- Evaluate current processes and make recommendations for increased efficiency, accuracy, productivity and compliance
- All other duties as assigned
Experience with: A/R, A/P, payroll ledgers, general ledger, credit/collections, cash flow, depreciation, insurance, audits, taxes, titles and licensing, bank reconciliation, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis, reporting, payroll, cash management, cost-control
Qualifications:
- BS in Accounting or Finance
- Previous professional experience in accounting and/or finance
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and other analytical tools
- Strong understanding and knowledge of GAAP
- Significant experience in budgeting, planning, and financial and operational reporting
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification
- Previous supervision and management-level experience
- General accounting and financial management experience in the transportation industry
- Experience working in a small business or family-operated business environment
Compensation: $60,000-$85,000 base salary (pay commensurate with experience), plus bonus structure
